HORATIO, VISCOUNT NELSON (1758-1805) Autograph document signed ('Horatio Nelson'), a cheque addressed to 'Mr Pollard', Agamemnon , 17 December 1793, 'Please to pay to Mr Wm Hoste the sum of Twenty Tuscan Crowns which place to the Account of Horatio Nelson', one page, irregularly cut from a larger leaf, approximately 94 x 192mm , backed onto card. Sir William Hoste, 1st Bt (1780-1828) was twelve years old when he joined the Agamemnon under Nelson as captain's servant in April 1793. Nelson raised him to midshipman on 1 February 1794, and the two were to remain close friends.
