Small portrait of Hunter tipped into margin of A2 (1 inch marginal tear on title and first few preliminaries, occasional minor foxing). Contemporary calf gilt (rebacked, preserving original spine, corners worn, joints cracked). Provenance : The author (with his manuscript notes); Everard Home (1756-1832), Hunter's pupil and brother-in-law (manuscript marginalia); William Ingram Keir, M.D. (inscription); Kenneth Garth Huston (bookplate). He acquired John Hunter's (his brother-in-law) library on his death. The first paper has several pencil notes by him, and he identified Hunter's hand in the notes on Jenner's paper.
