First edition, 1/520 signed by Arthur Rackham out-of-series copy. 4to, original quarter vellum and gilt-pictorial and lettered tan boards, gilt-lettered and decorated spine, top edge gilt, other edges untrimmed; corners moderately bumped, edges worn - occasionally abraded, some scuffing to front cover, light to moderate scuffing to back cover, a few small blisters on back cover; minor wear and a little dust smudging to vellum. With 16 mounted color plates, lettered tissue guards, 21 black and white illustrations. Endpapers moderately to moderately heavily foxed, minor spotting to blank leaves at front and back. Internally clean - some offsetting on tissue guards. Hinges tender and just starting to crack the gutters of the endpapers. Latimore & Haskell p. 52-53.
