The large, often animated beautiful pl. represent landscapes, views or scenes, i.a. Anjer, "Gezigt van de straat Sunda", Batavia (the harbour, "Woonhuizen van Europeanen"), Serang, "Javaanse tempel nabij Bantam", Dano Valley, waterfalls, natives, Banda, "Eene straat te Amboina", a visit to the sultan of Ternate, "De Maleise kampong te Makasser", 2 portraits of indigenous nobles, etc. The masterpiece of the Belgian artist Paul Lauters (1806-1875): he executed the pls after drawings by the Dutch Lieutenant-at-sea and painter Ch.W.M.
