ISLAMIC KHATAM GLAZED TILE Circa 19th century AD or later A ceramic floor tile in the form of an eight-pointed star, with green and black glaze decoration; the image a mounted swordsman with conical cap and prominent moustache, wearing a long riding coat; his feet in stirrups and his right arm raised brandishing a shamshir, surrounded by a dense foliate pattern. Ceramic, 1.0 kg, 23 cm (9"). Very fine condition. Provenance London private collection, acquired 1950's-1970's.
