J. PURDEY & SONS A 12-BORE SINGLE-TRIGGER SELF-OPENING SIDELOCK EJECTOR, serial no. 17684, 28in. nitro reproved chopperlump barrels, rib engraved ''J. PURDEY & SONS. AUDLEY HOUSE, SOUTH AUDLEY STREET. LONDON. MADE OF SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH'S FLUID PRESSED STEEL' (refreshed), 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/4 choke, wall thicknesses below recommended minimum, removable striker discs, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, arrow cocking-indicators, Boss & Co. 1905 improved patent single trigger, rolled-edge triggerguard, fine acanthus scroll engraving with floral bouquets, retaining very slight traces of original colour-hardening, 14in. well-figured stock, weight 6lb. 6oz. Provenance: The makers have kindly supplied us with the following information: No. 17684 Completed: 17th November 1902 For: J.
