.30-06 caliber, 23.25" barrel length, S/N B3740. Roughed, turned and blued vented barrel and receiver of rough casting. Walnut stock and fore end. Markings on top of the receiver in five lines "Cal 30-06 Semi Auto" over "Johnson Automatics" over "Model of 1941" over "Made in Providence, R.I., U.S.A." over serial number. Has marking on receiver in a triangle "Cranston Arms Co." Has M2 rear sight marked in meters. Johnson developed this semi-auto rifle to compete against the Springfield Armory M1. The U.S. Army never approved the Johnson Model 1941, however at the onset of the U.S. entering World War II, the Marine Corps used many of these rifles that were ordered by the Dutch Military. The Marine Corps desired a rapid fire rifle so the Model 1941 was issued to Para-marine battalions and used on the Pacific front. This is a fine example of a Marine Corps Johnson Model 1941 rifle. Condition: The walnut stock and fore end have nicks and dings with a very small chip in the stock at the magazine clip. The magazine has a nice plum patina. The barrel and the receiver retain most of the roughed and turned blue finish. The markings are sharp and crisp. The bore is in very good condition. Overall condition is very good.
