Contemporary half calf over marbled boards, marbled endpapers (spine split, section of marbling on lower cover torn away, corners worn). Provenance : Francis Parry Clark (faded ownership inscription, dated 1785, on title) -- purchased from Papantonio, New York, 30 June 1941. FIRST EDITION. Courtney and Smith p. 157. Half-titles in volumes II-III. (Some spotting and staining.) Contemporary polished calf, spines gilt with contrasting labels, sprinkled edges, morocco-backed slipcase.
