Library, Western Historical Series #1, [1952]. * Journal Kept During a Trip Across the Plains Containing an Account of the Massacre of a Portion of His Party by the Mojave Indians in 1859. Intro. by Lyle H. Wright. Cloth, jacket. Kovach, 1946. Together, 2 volumes. The first item is a facsimile of the very rare 1859 first edition published in Suisun City, California, made from the only known copy, at Yale University; the second book reprints the rare 1868 edition, of which only eight copies are known. The journal recounts Udell's fourth voyage across the plains. Wagner-Camp 346a. Lot Amendments Condition: Very slight wear, about fine overall. Item number: 191502
