Also published in German three years later, the work comprises five essays, including three translations from Arabic and Turkish authorities, and two eye-witness accounts, of Chios, dated 10 February 1747, and of Sultana Esma's marriage to the Governor of Silistria, Yakub Pasha. Galland, an interpreter in the Levant, was a nephew of Antoine Galland (1646-1715), the orientalist. Blackmer 643.
