A one-volume edition of this classic account, with new Preface (by Falconer?) mentioning the annexation of Texas. A FINE PRESENTATION COPY FROM THOMAS FALCONER (1805-1882), inscribed on verso of title "Thomas Falconer one of the Adventurers on this expedition to John Jones Esq... 1855," and at end of Preface (p. iv): "The end was the capture of the City of Mexico & the possession of California by the government of the United States of America." On verso of last page, Falconer has listed his accomplishments. Falconer, an English attorney, interrupted his legal career to visit Texas; with Lamar's permission he joined the eventful Santa Fe expedition as a scientific observer.
