.45 caliber, 43" octagonal barrel, marked with "I" eagle "M" on top flat, original flint. Flat unmarked lockplate and goose neck hammer, functions properly. Maple stock with minimal carving, cheek rest on the left buttstock. Brass furniture features an engraved four-piece brass patchbox pierced top. Complete with wooden ramrod. Possibly the work of one of several late 18th or early 19th century rifle maker's bearing the name Jacob Metzger. Condition: Good. Barrel has turned a dark plum brown, moderate on the breech near the touch hole, vise marks on the sides. Stock normal wear on the edges, a few dings and nicks.
