Engraved throughout. 11 titles in French and German, dedication in French, 90 plates in the first work, 12 plates of animals in the second, 9 folding. (The second folding plate torn into the image and repaired, three of the plates of animals with repaired tears in lower margin.) Contemporary half calf, spine gilt (modern endpapers). FIRST EDITIONS. The plates of the animals and birds in Prince Eugene's menagerie (second only to that at Versailles) are particularly rare. The first work records Hildebrandt's Belvedere in Vienna, designed for Prince Eugene and probably the most magnificent private house built in the 18th century. Claude le Fort du Plessy's interiors are included, as are the gardens and fountains of Dominique Girard Berlin Kat. 2117, recording both works in one volume; Nissen ZBI 2212 (second work).
