KNOLLES, Richard. The Generall Historie of the Turkes ... Together with the Lives and Conquests of the Othoman Kings and Emperours , London: Adam Islip, 1610. 2° (313 x 216mm). Engraved historiated title with the arms of James I at head and a battle scene at foot, 29 medallion portraits and an illustration of a battle scene, with the initial blank. (Edges and corners very dog-eared at the beginning, some quires loose, 3L2 somewhat defective, a few short tears, rust-holes and other minor imperfections.) Contemporary calf (worn and detached). Second edition of Knolles' magisterial work on Turkey and the Turks and the last edition to be edited by the author. STC 15052; cf. Blackmer 919. Sold not subject to return.
