A warm note by Knopf welcoming the new writer and speaking kindly and about his father, Joshua Powers, seemingly and acquaintance. 2) New York: 27 November 1979. Typed letter signed "Tom Powers" to "Dear Mr. Knopf". A kind reply by Powers speaking about his father and praising the beginning of a good relationship with Knopf publishers. 3) [New York:] 5 December 1979. Retained carbon copy of a typed letter unsigned from "AAK" to "Dear Tom (If I may)". The last part of this string of correspondence, Knopf is seemingly delighted by Powers previous letter and glad to have him on board. 4) Carmel Highlands, CA: 28 January 1980.
