KONO BAIREI (1844-1895), RINSAI (1847-?), AND OTHERSMeiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century 38 oban prints of kacho-ga and 18 book plates from Hokusai manga (Hokusai's Sketchbooks) after Hokusai, comprising: 27 oban prints from the series Bairei kacho gafu (Album of Birds and Flower Pictures by Bairei) by Bairei; six tate-e from the series Somoku kacho zu-e (Pictures of Birds and Flowers) by Rinsai, Gyozan and others; three more yoko-e by Rinsai; two yoko-e facsimiles from the series Momo chidori kyoka awase (Myriad Birds: A Kyoka Competition) after Utamaro; 18 mounted single or double-page illustrations from several volumes of the Hokusai manga probably from the Meiji era; variously published, variously signed, some unsigned; each mounted on cardboard or in a plastic sleeve. The smallest: 23.5cm x 16cm (9¼in x 6 5/16in); the largest: 25.5cm x 38.3cm (10in x 15 1/16in). (56).
