Strongly influenced by Dadaism, the Nice-born artist was a founding member of the Nouveau Réalisme group, alongside other renowned artists including Yves Klein and Jean Tinguely Arman began displaying found objects in perspex vitrines in 1959. He referred to these works as 'poubelles' ('dust bins'). Andy Warhol allegedly owned two. Arman's work is held in the collections of MoMa New York, the National Gallery of Art, Washington and Tate Gallery, London.
