La Chapelle Mission Haut-Brion 2006 La Chapelle Mission Haut-Brion 2006 Pessac-Leognan (Graves) This was the first vintage with La Tour Haut-Brion in it. 30% new oak. Cabernet Sauvignon 50%, Cabernet Franc 28%, Merlot 22%. A wonderfully vibrant, fresh nose of red fruit ? cooking raspberry jam. This continues to the palate with its immediacy of fruit and fresh appeal. So flavoury and elegant. In 2012, the raspberries are very strong and very alluring. Serena Sutcliffe, MW. See illustration Lot 8480 12 bts (owc) Lot 8481 12 bts (owc) per lot: HKD 4000-6000 per lot: USD 500-700 This is the little brother (or sister!) of La Mission Haut-Brion itself and a very mouth-watering wine in its own right. The composition of grape varieties can vary quite considerably in accordance with the material that the weather provides, with greatly fluctuating Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon percentages, but the perfume and substance always deliver, often with racy black fruit and a sign-off that sends you on your way in a very happy mood. Starting with the 2006 vintage this wine includes the grapes from the neighboring vineyards of Chateau La Tour Haut-Brion for which 2005 was the last vintage. Chapelle is a wine that is a true friend throughout all its life, with a come-hither, gulpable quality that fits all our needs. It is also something of a secret to share with friends, only if they are very good. Serena Sutcliffe, MW.
