"The first volume is entirely occupied with an exhaustive examination of the evidence procurable at the time as to the invention of Printing, with a review of the books written upon the subject. There is also a chronological table of the art of typography as exercised in the fifteenth century, with the date of the earliest works from the presses of the several cities, as well as the names of the printers. The chief part of the essay on the history of Printing, which was also originally issued as a separate work in 1805, was translated by T. Hodgson, and issued as one of the 'Newcastle Reprints'" (Bigmore & Wyman II, 352). Besterman III, 5032. (3)
