Lot of approx. 67 photographs, many credited to Pennsylvania studios, including: 2 CDVs, one an unusual studio view of a young boy posed in a planking position, his elbow balanced on a pole, no studio mark. Almost certainly a "trick" photograph. With second photo, possibly showing the same young boy, wearing a top hat and suit. 8 loose tintypes, most CDV-sized, one 3.5 x 5 in., featuring studio portraits, most featuring large groups, including few outdoor portraits. Some wear to tintypes, with some slight creasing, some with scratches / nicks in surface. 6 cabinet cards, most notably a hand-colored studio portrait of a young woman holding a parrot, no studio credit; a young girl posed with her violin, by Sickler, Buffalo, NY; and 4 studio portraits on slightly larger mounts, likely taken during early 20th century. Range in condition, but with some light, scattered spotting on most prints, some light to moderate wear to mounts. 4.5 x 7.5 in. photograph on 5.25 x 8.5 in. mount of a family posed outside a brick home, titled in negative, "Home of Mons.(?) Ellingsen." Soiling to image and mount. Image has lightened. 21 silver gelatin photographs, including individual or family portraits, most 4 x 5.5 in. (some slightly larger or smaller), each on cardstock mount, some with studio credits, ca early 20th century. Overall good condition. 22 real photo postcards, most studio portraits, but including a few outdoor group shots. Range in wear, with some showing stains/spotting. All unused. Some with creases, folds at corners. 7 large format silver gelatin prints, ranging in size from 4.75 x 6.75 in. (on 8 x 10 in. mount) to 7 x 9.5 in. (on 14 x 11 in. mount). Images of note include 2 postmortem photos of men in caskets; 4 formal studio portraits of large families; and an image after a painting showing a dead soldier, his wife and child mourning over him (rip in top left edge of print and mount). Images have lightened, and some wear/toning to images and mounts. Accompanied by small group of miscellaneous receipts and document.
