Second edition, folio (21 x 15 3/4 in). 52 engraved maps (of which 45 are double-page and 5 folding), contemporary hand-color, many maps repaired at folds, only rarely with any loss, nineteenth century purple half morocco, spine gilt in compartments, gilt edges. Condition : some maps rather browned, upper joint cracked, corners renewed. Provenance : unnamed owner, sale at Sotheby's, 20 June 1977, lot 251, £1,100, Charles W. Traylen, Guildford, Surrey, for Lord Wardington. This copy contains two additional maps (one of the Invasions of England, the other of Brazil) which are not called for in the list of contents.
