Entre 1910 et 1914, Jacques Majorelle jeune peintre nancéen, va eff ectuer trois séjours en Egypte qui vont le conduire du Delta à la Haute-Egypte. Les Pyramides et le Nil, la vie des égyptiens dans leurs villages vont être les premiers objets de fascination orientale du peintre. Elle le conduira à s'installer au Maroc en 1918. On the back, hand written: "Soir, Maison Blanche, n°1", située "Marg". A young painter from Nancy, Jacques Majorelle was to make three trips to Egypt between 1910 and 1914. From the Nile Delta he was to journey into Upper Egypt. Egyptian life in the villages were to be the primary objects of the painter's fascination with the orient which lead him eventually to settle in Morocco in 1918.
