Of course I’d be delighted to have you on my list,” he tells Brown, so long as he understands the book will not be available for almost a year, that “more than a hundred copies are being printed” and that to cover his costs an additional 20 may need to be printed as well. He is giving “plain texts to the people mentioned in the book, who shared the campaign with me.” If Brown understands and accepts these conditions, “then you will have to give in a cheque for fifteen guineas” to Lawrence’s bank manager, “making it payable to TE Lawrence, & marking it ‘Seven Pillars Account
