Cloth slipcase. Provenance : the author's wife (printed ad personam : "Exemplaire unique imprimé pour Madame Le Petit" -- Claude Guérin (anonymous sale, Drouot 7 December 1990, lot 113). UNIQUE COPY OF THE FIRST EDITION PRINTED ON VELLUM FOR MADAME JULES LE PETIT. The paper issues included 10 copies on Holland, 40 on Japan and 60 on Whatman. FIRST EDITION, which was reprinted more than fifty years later by Les Bibliolâtres de France. In his chapter on modern binders the author highly praises Lortic and his sons, whom he would commission to bind this exemplaire de tête .
