An album of 101 plates from 'Oraculum Anachoreticum', 'Sylvae Sacrae', 'Solitudo sive Vitzae Patrum Eremicolarum' and 'Solitudo sive Vitae Foeminarum Anachoritarum', mainly copies in reverse after engravings by Adriaen Collaert and Jan Sadeler I, after Marten de Vos (1532-1603), two title pages, with 99 engravings, on laid paper, various watermarks throughout, each leaf c. 185 x 275 mm. (7 1/4 x 10 3/4 in), numerous sheets with loss and repaired tears, surface dirt and browning, in modern half calf, oblong 4to, [early 17th century]; together with a group of 268 biblical book vignettes illustrating scenes from the Old and New Testament, engravings, presented on 134 loose sheets, many signed in the plate 'J.C. Back', each c. 60 x 80 mm. (2 3/8 x 3 1/8 in), presented in modern cloth drop-back box with gilt label to spine attributing the engraver to 'Jacques de Backer/ c. 1560', and bearing Neatham Mill Library number '161' to inside cover, [probably late 17th century].
