Stated first edition (one of about 5000 copies printed), in the first issue dust jacket with the $3.95 price unclipped, the Capote quote in green, bottom left corner of the front flap without mention of further printings. This copy has the Daniels blurb on the rear flap; there is debate about precedent, but it seems significant that the stated third printing jackets use the Shirley Ann Grau and Phyllis McGinley texts, but the second printing uses that of Daniels, which is also the case with the majority of first (undenoted) printing. Original publisher's green cloth backed brown boards. 8 x 5 1/2 inches inches (20 x 13.5 cm); 296 pp. Jacket with minor losses at head and toe of spine, some soiling and abrasion, but substantially intact and entirely free of restoration. Text block slighly slanted, bookplate and neat owner's name on front endpaper, a clean copy internally. The winner of the 1961 Pulitzer Prize, and the author's only novel. C
