With Autograph Letter Signed of Mary Custis Lee, 4 pp recto and verso, 12mo, Washington, June 12, 1917, to Mr. Shrader, on Shoreham Hotel letterhead, with original autograph transmittal envelope, letter fine, envelope soiled and thumbed. The daughter of Robert E. Lee and great-granddaughter of Martha Washington sends a sample of her father’s signature to an admirer. In part: “I am now sending you something I am sure you will value, though it is only a ‘scrap of paper,’ & old paper at that! One of the ‘vouchers’ signed by my father when he was stationed at St. Louis; & his work there, I believe stands to this day.”
