Letter from Khust congregation to their former rabbi, the Ga’on Rabbi Yosef Zvi [Maharitz] Dushinski Av Beit Din of Jerusalem. Khust, [1935]. Letter of greeting in honor of the arrival of the Maharitz Dushinski to the Karlsbad spa town, approximately three years after leaving the city of Khust in order to serve as Av Beit Din in Jerusalem (in 1933), following his promise to take this opportunity and visit Khust. “We can not describe our happiness upon the good news reaching us that the Rebbe arrived at the city of Karlsbad… upon the immigration of the Rebbe to the Holy Land we were forced to separate from him… the Rebbe is etched upon the heart of every Jew of our town and we feel a deep emotional bond with him…”. Lengthy and touching letter in which the intense admiration that the Jews of Khust sensed toward their former Rebbe is apparent. Signed on behalf of Jews of Khust: Leader of congregation, who added a personal letter regarding arrangement of visit of Maharitz in town, on margins. 33 cm. Fair condition, tears, stains and smearing of ink.
