COCTEAU, JEAN. 1889-1963. GILOT, FRANÇOISE. 1921-2023. A tremendous collection of approximately 80 Autograph Letters Signed ("Jean" and "Jean Cocteau"), containing 17 original drawings by Cocteau, to his friend artist Françoise Gilot including 1 Autograph Letter Signed to "Mon Picasso," approximately 88 pp in total, including 1 Autograph Poem Signed ("Madrigal Nicois"), 1 Autograph Letter Signed to Luc Simon 3 photographs (of his painting Madame Favini), a 4 pp typescript annotated by Cocteau "La Legende de Sainte Ursule" (plus 2 additional copies), 5 telegrams, and a magazine portrait of Cocteau annotated humorously by him. various sizes, most from St Jean Cap Ferrat or Paris, the earliest dated July 23, 1951 (the letter to Picasso), and the last dated November 10, 1961, but primarily 1953-1955, the years in which Gilot made her break from Picasso, most have their original transmittal envelopes (two containing drawings), condition varies, but primarily fine condition.
