Bohn, 1841. 3 volumes, 8 (240 x 151mm). 152 hand-coloured engraved plates by W. Clark and S. Watts after C. M. Curtis and Augusta Innes Withers 5 double-page. Contemporary green half morocco gilt, spines in six compartments with raised bands, red morocco lettering-piece in the second, brown morocco in the third, the others tooled in gilt, g.e., by Hammond. Provenance : John Straker, Stagshaw House (armorial bookplate). AN EXCELLENT COPY IN A FINE BINDING. The work is a re-issue of Lindley's The Pomological Magazine , published by James Ridgeway between 1828 and 1830. All except five of the plates are from originals by Mrs.Withers, who at the time of the present publication was "Flower and Fruit Painter in Ordinary to Queen Victoria".
