Longton Hall or Vauxhall Porcelain Figure Group Emblematic of Autumn Circa 1756, perhaps impressed B, otherwise unmarked, probably Vauxhall Modeled as two putti feeding grapes to a goat, the goat naturalistically shaded in brown, the putti in yellow and iron-red drape, the rocaille-molded scroll base applied with flowers and enriched in puce, purple and green. Height 5 1/2 inches, width 6 1/4 inches . A hard-paste version of this model with bocage was made at the Plymouth manufactory, see ref. no. 5 in the present listing. For a group now attributed to Vauxhall and potentially from the factory of Nicholas Crisp and John Saunders, see the British Museum, no. 1887,0307,IV.7. For an example from the Katz Collection at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, previously thought to be Longton Hall and currently listed as 'probably Vauxhall', see 1988.926. Restoration to both of the goat's horns, the associated putto's extended left arm, and the other putto's left foot, the chips to flowers, fruit and foliage.
