LOT OF 3: EAGLE POMMEL SWORDS AND A STARR SWORD - ALL WITH SCABBARDS.

Beschreibung:

Lot consists of: (A) Early eagle pommel sword with slightly curved single edged and single fuller blade, engraved with patriotic motifs. Brass five ball guard and knucklebow. Reeded bone grip. Complete with its original black leather scabbard with brass mounts. CONDITION: Blade retains a spotted grey patina with generous traces of blued and gilded finishes, some nicks to edge and polishing marks. Hilt retains a dark mustard patina. Grip very good. Scabbard very good, mounts with dark patina. Surface crazed with some scuffs. (B) Unusual 'D' guard eagle pommel sword with scabbard. Slightly curved blade with large blued panels on both sides with etched panels and gilt washed decorations, including a patriotic shield and arms. Brass 'D' guard hilt with a campus leaf quillon and a diamond shaped knucklebow decorated with chased foliate designs. Eagle head pommel with reeded bone grip. CONDITION: Blade retains 85-90% of its original polished, blued, and gilt washed finishes, with some minor thinning from scabbard and some dark spots. Hilt retains a mustard patina with some darker patinas in protected areas. Grip retains a honey patina with some minor hairline age cracks. Original leather scabbard is very good with some minor creases and crazes to surface. Mount retain a dark unpolished patina. (C) Starr Model 1818 cavalry saber. Standard configuration. Reverse 'P' hilt with birds head pommel. Complete with its original iron scabbard. CONDITION: Blade retains a spotted grey patina, markings are excellent. Hilt and scabbard retain much of original black finish, with some dark brown patina. Grip shows some losses to leather and scabbard shows some denting.
