Lot of 4: Card, Benjamin Cozzens (1825 - 1916). Card enlisted early in the war as 1st. Lieut. and was commissioned into the Quartermaster Dept. He moved up rapidly through the ranks, and by August 1864 was a Colonel. He received a brevet BG (plus Major, Lt. Col. and Col. all on the same day) in March 1865. He continued in service, retiring by statute in 1889. Cdv with backmark of Gardiner, "Photographer to the Army of the Potomac." Crosman, George Hampton, (1799 - 1882). (USMA 1823, #355) Crosman was commissioned into the 3rd Infantry 1 July 1823, and in 1830 entered the ranks of the quartermasters where he spent most of his remaining career. Crosman was commissioned Lt. Col. in 1856 and promoted to Colonel in 1863. He retired 29 July 1866 shortly after the end of the war. He received two brevets (BG, MG) for faithful and meritorious service during the war. Carte with backmark of Broadbent, Philadelphia. Donaldson, James Lowry (1814-1885). (MD, USMA 1836, #856) After graduation, he joined the 3rd Artillery, He joined the QM Dept. in 1847, during the Mexican War. He received three brevets, one BG, and two MG, one for "distinguished and important service" in the "campaign terminating in the capture of Atlanta, GA." He resigned in 1874 after nearly 40 years of service. Cdv with backmark of A.S. Morse, "Dep't of the Cumberland," Nashville, TN. Ekin, James Adams (1819 - 1891). Ekin enlisted as 1st. Lieut. in April 1861, as soon as war was declared. He was commissioned into F&S of the 12th PA Infy. and into the QM Dept. by August of that year. He received a number of brevets, including Brig. Gen. and Brig. Gen. Vols. He continued in service until retiring by statute in 1883. Carte with backmark of Addis, Washington, DC. Boldly inscribed, signed and dated on verso. Provenance: The Robert Trownsell Collection Condition: Albumen starting to lift from mount on Crosman, slight water stain across top. Small water stain on Donaldson. Otherwise expected handling wear on all.
