Lot contains: (A) German WWII M40 helmet with a reproduction SS decal, and (B) German WWII Heer M42 single decal helmet. (A) M40 helmet marked "Q64" for the maker of "Quist" and in a shell size of 64, with a lot number of "DN378". The medium liner is in size 57. Shell retains 75-80% of its rough gray green paint, with worn areas mainly on the crown and displaying patina and freckling. Interior retains approximately 93% of its smooth green finish, with some light freckling, dust, and dirt in the center area. The decal present on the helmet is a reproduction SS "Pocher" type decal. While it has a coat of lacquer on it, it is the wrong decal for the shell, has contrived wear and damage, and lacks the quality of original SS decals. There is no sign of any other decals ever having been on this helmet. Original mid to late zinc liner band is present and is untouched. Liner is complete, untouched, in a lighter brown color, with a size stamp of "57", with light fraying to the leather around the edge, and stains from being worn. Original liner drawstring is present. Original shorted chinstrap with steel and aluminum fittings are also present, with moderate wear, and no visible markings. Liner assembly appears to be untouched with tight rivets, prongs, and pins. CONDITION: Overall excellent. (B) German WWII Heer M42 single decal helmet marked "ET64" for the maker of "Eisenhuttenwerke Thale" and in a shell size of 64, with a lot number of "2486". The medium liner is in size 57. Shell retains 90-95% of its rough gray green paint, with some patina, dust, and dirt.
