LOU GEHRIG'S 1927 AND 1928 TOUR SCRAPBOOK Following both the 1927 and 1928 baseball seasons, Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig barnstormed the country with their respective teams the Bustin Babe's and the Larrupin' Lou's The tour was organized by their agent Christy Walsh and allowed fans in non-major league markets to see the great players in person. Lou Gehrig's wife kept this scrapbook for him with items and clippings he sent home. This is Gehrig's scrapbook of those tours kept by his wife. The scrapbook contains; four broadside posters for the tour, including three large posters picturing both Ruth and Gehrig and one smaller one with only Ruth's head pictured on it; two scorecards - one picturing Ruth in a generic uniform and Gerhig in his Columbia University uniform and the other with no pictures; stationery with both players pictured; twenty five original 8 x 10 photographs; Gehrig's train ticket envelope; dozens of clippings, an intinerary and notations by Mrs. Gehrig. The posters are in very good to near mint condition and are complete with some tears. An unique personal item of one of baseball's best loved players. The clippings from remote cities show the incredible enthusiam fans had for Ruth and Gehrig. The scrapbook was given to the consignor by Mrs. Gehrig.
