Suspending repayment by Wagner of a loan. An instruction to his court secretary: 'The monthly payments which were imposed on the composer Richard Wagner for the purpose of repaying the loans received from my Cabinet Treasury by letters dated 2 March, 1869 and 31 August, 1871, may also remain suspended for the years 1878, 1879 and 1880 and shall accordingly not be resumed until 1881'.
The relationship between Ludwig and Wagner dated to the former's accession to the throne in 1864, and the Bavarian king's patronage was central to Wagner's composing and personal life over subsequent years.
