EARLY EDITION OF MACHIAVELLI'S EPOCH-MAKING THE PRINCE , FOLLOWED BY FOUR TEXTS BY THE SAME AUTHOR, ALL IN THE ORIGINAL ITALIAN. The text was first printed posthumously in 1532 in Rome, and it became a masterpiece of Italian Renaissance literature. Unlike Castiglione's equally important Il Cortegiano , Il Principe offers advice to a prince on how to gain power, how to keep it and how to increase it.
