Second edition, but the FIRST to include the treatise on bookbinding. PRESENTATION COPY, inscribed by the author: "Mairet was the first professional lithographic printer to write a book about the process" (Twyman), and his account, first published in Dijon in 1818, precedes Senefelder's treatise. Mairet discusses the theory of lithography, the ways of drawing on stone and the methods of printing. Much of the second part was used by LeNormand in his Manuel du relieur , Paris, 1827. RARE: NUC locates only the Library of Congress copy; to that Pollard adds a copy at the British Library. Only one copy is recorded in auction records since 1975.
