The X-24 was an experimental aircraft developed under the joint U.S. Air Force-NASA PILOT program, designed and built to test lifting body concepts and experiment with the concept of unpowered reentry and landing, which was later used by the Space Shuttle. The aircraft was originally built as the X-24A, but rebuilt as the X-24B.
