Lot details By a member of the Masanao family, signed Masanao Japan, Ise-Yamada, mid-19th century, Edo period (1615-1868) Finely carved as a cluster of seven shimeji mushrooms, densely packed together, forming a pleasingly tactile and compact composition. Note the contrast between the smoothly polished caps and incised radial gills. ‘Natural’ himotoshi through one of the stems and signed within a slightly raised, polished reserve MASANAO. HEIGHT 3.7 cm Condition: Good, slightly worn condition with few small age cracks and tiny nicks. Provenance: British private collection.
