Engraved vignette on title-page, full-page woodcut portrait of Mattioli, numerous woodcuts in text. (Some occasional staining.) 18th-century calf, spine gilt (a few repairs along spine). Later edition of this translation by Antoine du Pinet, first published in 1561. The Commentaires was for a long time the most popular herbal in France with several editions published.
