Titles printed in red and black, 5 folding tables, 4 printed in red and black, text printed in 2 columns, Latin and Latin and Greek and Latin. (Faint marginal dampstaining to beginning of vol. II, occasional variable scattered spotting.) Contemporary vellum (lacking ties, extremities lightly rubbed and soiled). Provenance : lengthy ink manuscript annotation and hand-colouring to one folding plate and occasional pencil marginalia in the same hand. RARE FIRST EDITION of this important collection of ancient musical writers: Aristoxenus, Euclid, Nicomachus, Alypius, Gaudentius, Bacchius and Aristides. Willems 1148 'Collection très estimée, et que l'on rencontre difficilement'.
