Contrary to the title, and as indicated by eventful and eccentric chapter headings such as "Resolves for the Highway. Robs a Coach. Escapes." and "Saves a Lady from a Fire. Proposes Marriage. Is Circumvented by Fausett. Kills him, and flies.", Charles Osborn is in fact a rare early ramble novel.
