Mick Cremin green Australia No.10 rugby union Test Match shirt worn during the tour of New Zealand in 1946, by Farmer's of Sydney, Wallabies badge with embroidered inscription reading AUSTRALIA, RUGBY UNION, 1946 The Australian tour of New Zealand in 1946 was the first international rugby union tour after the Second World War. The All Blacks won the Test Matches and retained the Bledisloe Cup. John Francis "Mick" Cremin (1923-2011) was born in Sydney. He played for Randwick and New South Wales before making his Test debut against New Zealand at Dunedin on 14 September 1946. Cremin played as a fly-half in three Tests and 19 matches for Australia. He was renowned as a strategist and became one of the Wallabies' most influential players in the post-World War II period. He died in Sydney on 13 January 2011, aged 87. Provenance: This shirt was gained as a swap by New Zealand's captain Fred 'The Needle' Allen, Cremin's opposite number at fly-half. Later acquired from Allen by a private collector, the uncle of the present vendor.
