MIGUEL COVARRUBIAS (Mexico 1904-1957) Balinese beauties bathing signed "Covarrubias" (lower left) pencil, pen and black ink on paper 10 x 8 in. (26 x 21 cm.) A sketch of this work is done on the reverse side of the drawing with the same five women in different positions. These drawings were done in Bali when Covvarubias was doing research for his book Island of Bali ; these were also studies of works which the artist eventually executed in oil. The work will be sold with a letter of authentication by Mrs Adriana Williams, author of the book Covarrubias , University of Texas Press, 1994.
