Beschreibung:

.69 caliber, 42" barrel length smooth bore. Markings on lockplate in front of hammer "US" over 5-pointed star over N. STARR. Behind hammer is marked MIDD over CONN over 1833 over engraving of a 8-pointed star. Marking of "TM" on top near upper tang. Marking of "TM" in front of lower tang. Cartouche in script of "JM" inside of oval. Iron parts are browned and lockplate is case colored. Walnut stock with button head ramrod. End of the muzzle has bayonet lug. Condition: All iron parts have an untouched browning patina with some pitting. The lockplate has traces of case color with faint pitting that blends to a brown patina. Walnut stock is in good condition with scratches, nicks and dings. There is a small chip on the buttstock at the top of the stock near the buttplate. The buttplate has pitting that blends to a brown patina. All markings and cartouche are sharp and crisp. The button-head ramrod is not original to gun. The frizzen screw has been replaced and is not original. The bore has some pitting. This is an early model 1816 by N. Starr as indicated by the 8-pointed star motif on the back of the lockplate. Overall condition is good and can clean to better.
