MOZART, Wolfgang Amadeus (1756-1791). AUTOGRAPH MANUSCRIPT OF A PREVIOUSLY UNRECORDED PART OF A SOPRANO ARIA, CONTEMPORARY WITH DIE ENTFÜHRUNG AUS DEM SERAIL , scored for strings and horn and soprano voice on two systems of six staves per page, brown ink, inscribed 'Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart' at the head of the page, 2 pages, recto and verso, oblong folio, (219 x 302mm.) , (some very minor fraying at the edge). This leaf comprises part of an unknown soprano aria, possibly intended to be used in Die Entführung aus dem Serail (K.384). It is written in the same key as the aria in the opera sung by Blonde. Alternatively, it is an aria from an otherwise unknown work. The paper and partially visible watermark are consistent with the leaf being contemporary with the opera and can be dated to circa 1778-1780. Die Entführung aus dem Serail was first performed in July 1782.
