Engraved vignette on title-page by ROCCO POZZI after MICHAEL FOSCHINI, 2 large engraved folding plates by BARTOLOMEO DE GRADO and ANTONIO BALDI after NICCOLO TAGLIACOZZI CANALE (some minor offsetting and spotting). (One folding plate and B2 and B3 detached.) Contemporary mottled calf, spine gilt, remnants of paper label at head of spine (spine dry and cracked, a few repairs, lacking free endpapers). A description of the entrance of CHARLES VII (1716-1788), King of Naples and Sicily into his capital. After claiming the kingdom upon the expulsion of the Austrians by Spain in 1734, the newly crowned king arrived to much celebration in the now independent Naples. One of the large folding plates illustrates the pomp surrounding his arrival by sea, while the second shows the series of arcades ending in a triumphal arch erected for the occasion in the front of the royal palace.
