NEW JERSEY - COLONIAL LAWS] Bound volume of New Jersey Session Laws, 1761-1775 . Woodbridge: James Parker November 1761- March 1770; Burlington: Isaac Collins, September 1770-November 1775. A thick volume in original blue paper-covered boards, rebacked and cornered in brown gilt lettered morocco, retains early pastedowns, housed in a matching half morocco slipcase. 11 1/2 x 7 1/4 inches (29.5 x 19 cm); the volume containing approximately twenty individual imprints with title pages, a typed contents leaf tipped-in at front, a manuscript index and a large group of blanks bound-in. Generally clean but with stamps to titles and elsewhere, some leaves trimmed close, spotting and toning, ink page numbers, signatures and marginalia, the old boards rubbed and stained and the leather nicked, the hinges reinforced, individual titles not collated and the lot sold as is. Provenance: This volume bears many contemporary signatures and thus carries a fine and interesting New Jersey ownership history. Of note are numerous signatures to title pages and other places by David Brearley (1745- 1790), a Revolutionary War Colonel, New Jersey Supreme Court Justice and signer of the Constitution; at least three signatures of Joseph Bloomfield (1753-1853), a Revolutionary War Major, New Jersey General Assembly member, and Governor of New Jersey from 1803-1812; and laid in is a 1905 note reports the book once owned by New Jersey Supreme Court Justice Andrew Kirkpatrick. A large group of rare New Jersey imprints. C The New York City Bar Association
