Three contemporary photographs on mounts, each 6 3/4 x 9 1/4 inches (17 x 24 cm). The mounts imprinted with Raab, Photo./ 1536 3d Ave, N.Y. and each dated Oct. 10th 1885. Each is titled Before the Explosion..., Explosion of ..., and After the Explosion of Flood Rock. Each framed. A few spots to one image, in visibly good condition, unexamined out of frames. One of the largest planned explosions of its time, and a major engineering feat for New York, the explosion at Flood Rock was a critical event in the opening of Hell's Gate. Contemporary images of the explosion are rare. C
